Michaela Harte’s murder
A fourth person suspected of the murder of an Irish newlywed at her honeymoon hotel in Mauritius is appearing in court Wednesday. Police confirmed that Dassen Narayanen, a 26-year-old security officer at the Legends Hotel, has been charged with conspiracy. School teacher Michaela Harte-McAreavey was found dead January 10 in her hotel room. A post mortem concluded she died as a result of “asphyxia due to compression of the neck”. Several bruises were also found on her head. Room attendant Avinash Treebhoowoon, 29, and Sandip Moneea, 41, a floor supervisor, have been charged with murder. Room attendant Raj Theekoy, 33, faces a conspiracy charge.
Treebhoowoon and Moneea allegedly admitted to Mauritian officers that he killed Michaela McAreavey in a panic after she caught him rummaging through her belongings at a luxury hotel.

A horrible affair which highlights serious problems within the Mauritian society, the decline of moral values. Thefts in hotels are more common than previously thought. Incidents have not previously been reported in hotels as management prefer not to have negative publicity and usually deal with these matters in private. There is a sick mentality amongst part of the working population that regards tourists legitimate targets. It’s high time to get a grip of security matters and stop covering up incidents.
In fact, it seems that the hotels are no more keen to cover up larceny cases in their establishments. Two menservants have been arrested days after the Michaela Harte’s murder for larceny.
